Picture Book Project
Students from Creative Writing classes write original stories for their picture books. They come to the library and are paired with Art Students who illustrate the tales. They are bound and later some of the English students go to the elementary school and read the books to the primary students. It is a great opportunity for creativity, collaboration, speaking and presentation. It's a Win Win all around.
The elementary students LOVE listening to the high school students read their books

Poet-Tees

In celebration of National Poetry Month in April, students spend a day in the LMC adding poetry and artwork to tee shirts.

Hometown Heroes
In commemoration of Memorial Day, local veterans are invited to come to East Senior and speak with our students. The veterans are from all wars including WW II, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, Afghanistan and Iraq. They share their military stories in a small group atmosphere where students listen and are encouraged to ask questions. It is a great learning experience for our students and an honor for the building to have these dedicated soldiers share their experiences.

Reading is Delicious Contest

To celebrate National Library Week in April, the Library sponsors a Reading is Delicious contest. For each book a student reads over a 6 week period, he/she gets a chance to win a large basket of goodies. The more they read, the more chances they can get. It's a yummy reward for one reader!

Name That Book Contest

To celebrate Teen Read Week in October, the library sponsors a Name That Book Contest. Clues are given out during the day and the first student to guess the correct title wins a movie pass. Each day of the week there's a new book to guess.

December Trivia Contest

Come celebrate Christmas, Chanukah and Kawanza with us as you test your holiday trivia knowledge for the chance to win a tasty prize!

There's always something new happening every month, so be sure to check the bulletin board outside our door!
